A self-audit checklist to ensure your cancer treatment reflects the latest evidence, biomarker data, and guideline updates. Review with your oncologist at your next visit.
Cancer treatment evolves rapidly. New approvals, updated guidelines, and emerging biomarker data may create options that did not exist when your plan was created. Use this checklist to identify gaps and have a productive conversation with your care team.
Comprehensive genomic profiling — Have you had NGS testing (e.g., FoundationOne, Tempus xT, Guardant360)?
PD-L1 / TMB / MSI status — Are your immunotherapy biomarkers documented and current?
Actionable mutations reviewed — Has your team reviewed all reportable variants for FDA-approved therapies?
Liquid biopsy considered — If tissue biopsy was insufficient, has ctDNA testing been discussed?
Retesting at progression — If you progressed on therapy, has repeat genomic testing been ordered?
Current regimen reviewed — Is your treatment still the recommended first-line per NCCN guidelines?
New approvals checked — Have any new FDA approvals in the past 6 months apply to your cancer type?
Dose optimization — Has your dosing been adjusted based on tolerability and pharmacogenomic data?
Supportive medications — Are anti-nausea, pain, and supportive care medications optimized?
Trial search performed — Have you searched ClinicalTrials.gov for open trials matching your profile?
Molecular matching explored — Have you looked into programs like NCI-MATCH, TAPUR, or ComboMATCH?
Trial discussed with oncologist — Has your doctor addressed whether a trial could be beneficial now?
Eligibility documented — Do you have recent labs, scans, and performance status recorded for trial screening?
Side effects logged — Are you tracking and reporting all side effects at each visit?
Symptom management plan — Do you have a written plan for managing fatigue, neuropathy, or GI issues?
Mental health support — Have you been screened for anxiety or depression related to your diagnosis?
Palliative care consulted — Have you discussed integrating palliative care for symptom management (at any stage)?
Second opinion obtained — Have you sought a second opinion at an NCI-designated cancer center?
Tumor board review — Has your case been reviewed by a multidisciplinary tumor board?
